Poems for Exiles // The Book of Psalms

The Book of Psalms is a rich collection of poetry that traces the rise and fall of the kingdom of Israel while reflecting honestly on the full spectrum of our human experience––from moments of joy and celebration to those of sorrow and lament. This set of 150 poems formed the Israelite’s book of prayer when, in the darkness and disillusion of exile, they looked forward to a day when God himself would return as King and renew all of creation. Today, we are invited into this same story as we take up the psalmists’ words and join with them in singing, praying, and meditating on these poems for exiles.
